Fragmented Faces

Cambrian Explosion IV explores the tension between evolutionary thought and the persistent human impulse to resist it. Drawing on the Cambrian Explosion—a period marked by the rapid diversification of complex life—the work evokes an imagined field of emerging organisms, fossils and microscopic forms.
Hundreds of individually shaped ceramic elements accumulate across the surface, suggesting growth, mutation and continuous transformation. On the reverse, the handwritten sentence “I am sorry but you misunderstood Darwin as anti-evolutionists” introduces a deliberately direct, almost conversational voice, confronting the misunderstanding and rejection of evolutionary theory that continues into the present.
